Mabanaft acquires J29 truck stop
Mabanaft Ltd is delighted to announce the acquisition of Junction 29, one of the top-tier, independent truck stops in the UK.
The deal completed on 5th August and marks Mabanaft’s strategic commitment to developing a network of truck stops across the country, offering drivers and companies good-value, high-quality truck stops outside of those owned by the oil companies and large group networks.
Junction 29 is strategically important to the commercial fuel network, supporting Keyfuels, UK Fuels and Morgan Fuels’ customers. Located in the Midlands, a short distance from the M1, the site offers superb facilities including a truck wash, bunkered fuel and 110 overnight HGV parking spaces alongside showers, a café, bar, lounge and shop that ensure driver welfare and vehicle security.
A template for best practice
The success of the facility is a credit to Charles and Jane Jesudason; through their vision, industry knowledge and management skills Junction 29 has become a benchmark facility in the industry, boasting Truck Stop of the Year in 2010 and 2013. Supporting the customers of the fuel card companies remains a high priority for our business and we will continue to build on the great work undertaken by Charles and Jane.
Mabanaft Ltd chose Junction 29 as their first truck stop acquisition due to its high standards and good reputation. Junction 29 delivers a template for the best practice and customer service Mabanaft plan to bring to future truck stop acquisitions. To honour their commitment to Charles and Jane Jesudason and the staff and drivers at the site, Mabanaft plans to retain all staff and facilities, with Charles Jesudason remaining as an independent consultant until early 2020.
Building a portfolio of truck stops
Martin Cook, joint managing director of Mabanaft Ltd, says; “We’re excited to be diversifying into truck stops, starting with Junction 29.
“We intend to develop a portfolio of truck stops strategically located across the UK. This will strengthen our presence in the commercial fuel market and support the development of new non-fuel revenues such as parking, AdBlue, gas oil, driver hospitality and truck wash. Driver and vehicle security will be a feature of our facilities, providing locations which are beneficial to removing commercial traffic from insecure layby and side road parking, reducing congestion and theft.”
A shared ethos
Mabanaft’s business development manager, Peter McCarthy, says; “We’re proud to be helping owners bring some certainty to the future of their independent truck stops. Mabanaft is a family owned business and we operate with the same care and ethos as many of the owners we’re in negotiations with. It is our aim to continue to provide the same high level of service and support to customers as they currently get.”
Mabanaft Ltd is part of the Mabanaft Group, a trading arm of Marquard and Bahls. It provides trading and supply services to different market segments via its subsidiaries, with major physical oil trading activities in North West Europe. Through its subsidiaries Mabanaft Group’s network includes more than 690 service stations across Western Europe. The Oil! brand operates 330 service stations in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Denmark, while Tankpool24 operates 240 automated service stations for commercial trucking fleets. This positions Mabanaft Ltd well to develop a network of truck stops across the UK.
